Dogs are very adorable and they are lovely pets. This is probably the reason why they are called man’s best friend. But there is more to a dog than just its name. There are several species of dogs, and each one of them is unique. If you’re a dog lover, then you must know this. Not all dogs can be treated the same, and not all dogs are similar. There are some species of these intelligent animals that can be trained for more serious work, and there are others which are just trained for fun. Others are simple domesticated as pets and kept to guard homes. Although called with a single name, bulldogs actually have different species. There is the ever famous English bulldog, which is also the species often called using the name bulldog alone. There’s also the American bulldog, a more common dog with the usual bulldog appearance. The French bulldog is more like a toy dog, and it is the species of the bulldog with long ears. There are other species of bulldogs, and sometimes their names are even spelled as bulldogge, but this is an old English form of their family name. The most common attributes that almost all bulldogs share are the facial characteristics that frequently adorn personal check designs. They have a droopy and wrinkled face which looks like it had been punched in the nose, and a heavily-built muscular body. Although this family of dogs has a ferocious look, these dogs are known to be very happy-go-lucky and friendly. The typical bulldog has wide set eyes and a short muzzle with some skin drooping over the nose, also called rope. The hair of these dogs is short and sleek with colors of red, fawn, white, mixed colors of irregular patterns, and piebalds or unpigmented areas. The tails of most bulldogs are short and curled, but there are still some who require the tails of these breeds to be cut during birth. English bulldogs are bigger than American bulldogs in general, and French bulldogs are the smallest of the three breeds.

Despite its frowned face, the bulldog is generally a very friendly breed of dog. It is a good companion for all ages of humans as well as other types of animals. Bulldogs can easily be attached to their human owners that they would not venture away from their sight. Out of the three, the smallest is ironically the most aggressive. French bulldogs can be harsh on children so proper attention should be kept. They can also be aggressive especially towards canines of the same gender. The other two breeds, on the other hand, are well-tempered and cause minimal disputes.

The life expectancy of a bulldog is typically 8-12 years, but there are some breeds which can live longer or shorter, depending on the environment, food, care, and overall health. Nonetheless, bulldogs live to be excellent human companions and despite their small size, they can take up quite a big space in the hearts of their owners. Bulldogs may not look as cute or adorable as other dogs of its size, but it can definitely be as cuddly and friendly. There are several famous bulldogs known in history, although most depictions of bulldogs are vicious, as seen in most cartoons and fictional characters.

As a generalization, it can be said that bulldogs are mostly very warm and loving dog breeds with adorable frowning faces that make bulldog personal checks look great.. They may look tough and seem all muscular and violent, but inside, bulldogs are just small mammals looking for a human companion who will love them and care for them. So if you’re planning to get a dog as a pet, a bulldog would be a perfectly lovable breed to get.
