There are so many different beverages in the world. The most popular of these is water, of course. Water is the universal solvent and it’s also by far the most health-beneficial beverage that humans are especially designed to drink. But besides water, there are many other beverages that are formulated artificially to give another form of thirst-quenching satisfaction to those who are drinking them. One of the most common thirst quenchers in the world today is the soft drink.
The soft drink, also known as soda or carbonated drink, is a popular beverage which has been added with frizz. This frizz is produced by incorporating carbon dioxide molecules in the liquid. This in turn adds an effect to the drinker wherein the beverage tends to stroke the throat with a pinching or stinging sensation. Soft drinks are very well accepted because of their refreshing non-alcoholic mixes, and they also come in different flavors. Cola is the most widely manufactured flavor of soda. It is a caffeinated drink which is extracted from the cola nut. The many different manufacturers of cola soft drinks have seen extreme success in their businesses because people love cola. But that’s not the only soft drink that people love.
One of the beverages that people are very fond of drinking is the clear-colored soft drink. It is usually flavored with lemon-lime. There are many brands of soft drinks which produce this clear-colored soda, but the original formula was created by Charles Leiper Grigg, and the very first lemon lime flavored soft drink was the beverage named as 7 Up.
A lot of people are familiar with the name 7 Up. It is a very popular brand of carbonated drink and it has produced many other variations of the formula. Initially, in 1929, the formula that Grigg developed contained a mood-stabilizing drug which was known as lithium citrate. This patent medicine was used widely during those times. But in 1950, the company decided to change the formulation of the beverage and it has undergone many different formula changes ever since.
Since the release of 7 Up in 1929, it became an instant hit. People immediately loved the idea of a carbonated beverage with a strong citrus flavor and a clear color. It was one of the biggest products in the market at that time. But the company was not strong enough to deal with the industry and the ownership of 7 Up was transferred from one company to another. There were a lot of deals made, adjustments dealt with, and the name 7 Up slowly began to diminish.
In the 1960’s, the biggest competition began when the Coca-Cola Company saw that 7 Up was doing very well in the market. Coca-Cola developed their very own clear-colored lemon-lime soda, and they named it Sprite. Sprite was first introduced as a tonic for mixing with alcoholic beverages, but later on, Coca-Cola forced their partners that distributed 7 Up to let go of the brand and take on Sprite instead. The influence of Coca-Cola was the cause of 7 Up’s downfall.
Today, 7 Up is still a leader in carbonated beverage industries, but Sprite is on top. If you are a 7 Up lover or if you’re a fan of the product, you can make a statement by having some images and themes of 7 Up imprinted on your personal bank checks, mugs, clothes, and other personal valuables. This will help you express your liking for the carbonated beverage and you can also share your interest with the world. There are so many ways to show that you love 7 Up, and you can do them all on your own.
